Elements sculpture and workshop, 2025

This maple enclosure is pictured open so that you can view the props stored inside of it. The box itself is stack laminated and carved maple. Inside the box, you'll find charcoal, water, stone, and a fan - each representing the elements. Additonally, the box has a small bluetooth speaker that emits a looped recording of cicadas sped up nearly 100X. The box is meant to be placed in the woods and discovered during a workshop. Particpants discover the box, choose a token representing an element that speaks to them, and then go spend 20 minutes alone contemplating their location in the woods while quietly focusing their thoughts and relfections.
