Indigo-Dyed Ambrosia Maple Bowl
This bowl was very quickly once-dipped in an indigo vat in order to give it a natural, hazy, bluish tint. The wood is Ambrosia Maple, and I found that some of the patterned wood is a bit more porous than other parts so it takes the dye a little differently. The effect gives the bowl a bit of a night sky or water-ripple illusion. My indigo dye bowls aren’t glossy, they have a bit more of a matte or satin finish to them.
